This is a MAJOR impact DIY and a MAJOR money saver

So here is an alternative that you can make right at home and have comfort knowing you aren’t washing your dishes in harmful chemicals!

  • 1 cup baking soda

  • ¼ cup citric acid

  • 1 tbsp On Guard Cleaner Concentrate

  • 10 drops Grapefruit essential oil (or any citrus)

Directions:

1. Put all ingredients into a bowl and mix together until the mixture is an even consistency.

2. Place in silicone molds and let sit for 4 hours.

3. Remove tabs and store them in an airtight container. Use in place of store-bought tablets!

However, if you are like me and don’t want to get involved molding and waiting for 4 hours, you can use this recipe instead:

  • 2 tbsp borax

  • 2 tbsp washing soda

  • 1 tb salt (use less or none if you have soft water)

  • 1 tbsp citric acid

  • 5-10 drops grapefruit essential oil or any citrus essential oil

Directions:

  1. Combine the ingredients and stir until there are no lumps. Alternatively you use a blender, especially if you make a big batch.

  2. Pour into a sealed jar or other airtight container.

  3. Use around 2 tbsp per load for a normal load.

Tip : It’s useful to clear mineral deposits and other residue first before you transition to HOMEMADE dishwashing powder or tablets.

To prepare this:

  1. Place 1-2 cups of citric acid in the bottom of your empty dishwasher and start the cycle for 5 minutes then turn it of.

  2. Let is soak for a few hours then continue the cycle.

  3. It’s now ready to your HOMEMADE dishwashing powder!
